Synopsis

MERMAIDS – sweat your prayers is a choreographic work for four dancer-acrobats and one opera singer, centred around the figure of the mermaid. Blending dance, digital art, operatic voice and electronic music, the piece creates a pop, aquatic and mutant universe.

Faced with rising waters and dystopian imaginaries, MERMAIDS sets out to hack nostalgia and turn the world upside down through powerful, intensely physical movement. Through the idea of becoming-mermaid, metamorphosis becomes a force for emancipation: a way of reclaiming our imaginaries and bringing forth, from the depths, desirable and fluid futures freed from patriarchal and capitalist logics.

MERMAIDS unfolds as an embodied and immersive poem, a sensory and political fable in which, faced with the prospect of the end of one world, transformation opens up the possibility of imagining others.

The performance brings together an all-female cast, as does almost the entire artistic, technical and production team.
