MERMAIDS – sweat your prayers is a choreographic piece for 4 female dancer-acrobats and 1 opera singer, centered around the figure of the mermaid. This creation blends dance with digital art, weaving bodies with visuals, voice, and electronic music to immerse us in a mythical and pop-infused aquatic universe. Mermaids forms a visual poem — interconnected, embodied, sensorial, and immersive — that opens the imagination both intimately and politically.
Mermaids are fluid beings. They hybridize corporealities, oscillating between land and sea, reality and myth, across gender and species boundaries. With them, we confront rising waters and binary thinking, crafting a symbolic, political, and aesthetic space of resistance. Twisting dystopias linked to climate change, hacking nostalgia — why not breathe underwater?
It is about inventing a postmodern, regenerative mythology, and unearthing deep-sea strategies by re-inhabiting our collective imagination. Proposing a becoming-mermaid where metamorphosis is the key to emancipation.
The performance will feature an all-female cast, as well as an entirely female artistic team.
